This newsletter is published by the Jayhawk Chapter of Kansas, Military Officers Association of America, as a service to all members.  The Jayhawk emblem is used with the permission of the registered trademark owner, the University of Kansas.  Publication is made at bimonthly intervals.  The newsletter is only as good as the material available, so each member is requested to forward news and other items of interest to the editor or one of the service editors.

July Speaker:

 

Our speaker for July 15th MOAA meeting will be Richard (Dick) Schieflbusch, a retired KU professor, who will talk about his WWII experiences as a B-24 navigator and POW in Stalag 3 (of the Great Escape fame).

                                                                       President's Corner

     MOAA is conducting a Regional Chapter Presidents Symposium at the Doubletree Hotel in Overland Park, KS on 11-13 September 2003. Your President, 1st Vice President and Personal Affairs Officer have been invited and agreed to attend. The purpose of the Symposium is to bring together Council and Chapter representatives to examine and discuss key issues related to effective chapter management, recruiting and retention. Recommendations for effective implementing the ideas that surface will also be developed. 
 
     This year, for the first time, a separate Personal Affairs Workshop will also be held in conjunction with the Symposium for council/chapter Personal Affairs Officers. Three representatives of each council and chapter in the following 17 states have been invited: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
 
     If any Chapter member would like to assist with the registration for the event on September 11, please call Stan Sneegas at 865-0712.
