This newsletter is published by the Jayhawk Chapter of Kansas, Military Officers Association of America, as a service to all members.  The Jayhawk emblem is used with the permission of the registered trademark owner, the University of Kansas.  Publication is made at bimonthly intervals.  The newsletter is only as good as the material available, so each member is requested to forward news and other items of interest to the editor or one of the service editors.

The September speaker will be Dr. Trevor Sorenson. He is a Professor 

in the Aerospace Engineering Department at KU. His subject will be

"KU Space Projects."

     We are very fortunate this month to have Dr. Trevor Sorensen from the KU Aerospace Engineering Department as guest speaker. Some of our members already know him. Vince Muirhead was one of his professors during his undergraduate and graduate students days at KU. Tom Carmody has some mutual hobbies with him. I was a fellow student with Trevor and we received our BS degrees together in 1973. 

 

     Although he was raised in Australia, he came to KU to go to college. He was held a variety of positions in government and industry, including working with the astronauts (how many are KU grads?) at the Johnson Space Center and Lunar Mission Manager for the Clementine mission. Dr. Sorensen has been building the space portion of KU's Aero"space" Engineering Department for the last few years. He will be giving us an insight into this expanding area.

 

     I would encourage all of our members to attend our September 16th meeting, meet our new members and listen to Dr. Sorensen
